Enter your numbers once. See what Etsy, eBay and your own Shopify store each cost per month — and the exact order volume where your own store becomes cheaper than each marketplace, on fees alone.
The link above encodes your inputs — no data is sent to or stored by this site. Send it to a partner and they see the same calculation.
| Platform | Monthly fees | Monthly net profit | Margin | Max affordable CAC / order |
|---|
Revenue = orders × (selling price + shipping charged). Net profit = revenue − product costs − shipping costs − platform fees − customer acquisition cost. Sales tax / VAT is excluded from the fee base here. “Max affordable CAC” is the acquisition cost per order at which net profit hits zero — above it, you lose money on that platform at these inputs, even before any other costs.
This is a fee-only crossover under these assumptions. It does not say any platform “wins” overall — discovery, refunds, apps, fulfilment, and taxes can change the real decision. See the exclusions panel below.
Your own store has a fixed monthly subscription plus a small fee per order. A marketplace has no subscription but a larger fee per order. The fee-only crossover is the order count where the store's total monthly cost drops below the marketplace's: subscription ÷ (marketplace fee per order − store fee per order), rounded up. Customer acquisition cost is deliberately NOT in this crossover — it is shown separately above, because acquisition cost depends on how you get traffic, not on the platform's fee schedule.
Amazon is not in the comparison above, and that is deliberate — not an oversight and not a “coming soon” badge.
Reason: Amazon referral fees vary by category (roughly 8% to 45%; most general categories are 15%), and FBA fulfilment fees depend on product size and weight, which this calculator does not collect. Amazon's Seller Central fee schedule is login-gated and could not be verified from an official page without a Seller Central login. Showing a single 15% Amazon row would mislead sellers in other categories and sellers using FBA. An inaccurate Amazon row is worse than no Amazon row.
When Amazon is verified — referral schedule by category plus FBM/FBA fulfilment tiers, from official pages — it will be added as a separate, labelled row with its own assumptions, and this exclusion notice will be replaced by the verified figures and their sources.
Want to be told when the Amazon comparison is verified and added? Enter your email, then click Join — your email app will open with a pre-filled message. Send it to join the waitlist. No address is stored on this page itself, and no other email is sent to you from this form.
Note: the hello@sharpfee.com mailbox is being set up as part of launch. If your message bounces, try again after launch week — the waitlist itself does not change the calculator, and no Amazon numbers are shown until they are verified.
The monthly order count above which your own store's total cost (subscription + card fees) is lower than a marketplace's total fees. Below it, the marketplace is cheaper on fees; above it, your own store is cheaper on fees. It says nothing about traffic, conversion, or total profit after acquisition costs.
Payment processing rates, regulatory fees and subscription prices are set per country by each platform. Use the chip for your seller country — the figures switch to that country's schedule. Presets are labelled precisely: platform + country + seller type. There is no “EU-wide” preset — the EU preset is Ireland for Shopify and Germany (business) for eBay, and the difference is stated on the Fee Index.
They are estimates from official fee pages checked 4 November 2026, for the most-common categories. Your category may differ — always confirm with your seller dashboard before pricing decisions. Every figure, its source, and its last-verified date is on the Fee Index.
For the same reason as Amazon: the UK business schedule and the Australia Pro Starter schedule have not been verified from their official pages yet. Corroborated figures exist, but they are not shown until the official page is opened and confirmed. See the Fee Index for exactly what is missing.
